A real piece of history. From 1964, we believe this to be an all original example of Hofner's classic Violin Bass, as made famous as being the main bass of choice of Paul McCartney.
We have inspected the electronics all of which appear to be original, and the instrument is in very clean condition considering its now-55 year age, with few markings to note.
The only thing that we do not believe to be the original is the hard case which, although is a shaped violin bass case which appears to be of the same period, it is not the tweed Selmer case that is usually paired with this model when they become available.
As an interesting addition, the bass also comes with a black 'Selmer' leather strap from the 1960s which has been noted as being the strap used by John Lennon during the Beatles first appearance on the Ed Sullivan show. A collector's item in its own right, these straps are difficult to come by and can fetch a small fortune.
