A New Page at Sound Affects Premier…
Well, well. Look at what’s just arrived with us here at Sound Affects Premier. We’re excited to announce the arrival of three new John Page Ashburn Classic models from the John Page brand of guitars. We’ve been extremely impressed with these guitars since putting them on our walls a few weeks ago, and we think that these will pique your interest. Read on to find out exactly why…
“John Page…Where have I heard that name before?”
If you’re interested in your Fender history, then you will have come across the John Page name. Having designed and built guitars for over forty years, Mr Page spent twenty years of his career at Fender and was co-founder of the Fender Custom Shop. During this period he oversaw and led the development of Fender’s famous Custom Shop and created instruments for the likes of Eric Clapton, Pete Townsend and David Gilmour – To name a few.
“So, John Page knows a thing or two about making guitars then?”
We’d say that it’s definitely safe to say so, yes. After a hiatus period from 1998 to 2006 away from guitar-building, John returned to the luthier scene making a limited number of high-end custom instruments. Now, however, the Ashburn Classic has hit our hangers at the affordable price of £1,199 and provides a guitar which we think is a serious alternative to a boutique instrument which can easily leave your wallet feeling much slimmer by comparison.
“Sounds like they’re worth a try…”
Oh, they are. Just try one – We think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
Made in Japan, the Ashburn Classics have a medium ‘C’ profile maple neck which, paired with 22 thick frets, make for very comfortable playing. These necks are fitted with a cleverly-sculpted neck heel, which allows for access to the highest frets with ease. Playability is paired with tone – And we’re quite finicky about tone – with the model’s Alnico V Bloodline single-coil pickups. These will be familiar to the loyal Strat-fans, but will appeal to a range of players of different backgrounds as they cover an array of genres nicely.
If you’re curious, we recently had Tom Quayle in our studio demoing the Ashburn Classics: Tom Quayle Overview, John Page Classic Ashburn
And to finish, each model comes with a padded John Page padded gigbag, which will ensure that the guitar stays protected. You know, when you’re not playing it…
