Since its introduction in the '80s the APX has been a favourite of studio and live musicians. The APX has a fantastic amplified sound with tight basses, clear mids and balanced highs. This natural-coloured APX700II adds a wonderful acoustic sound to the mix, thanks to its solid spruce top and nato sides and back. It has a comfortable, thin body with an elegantly formed cutaway that makes it easy to reach the highest positions on the 23-fret neck. The APX700II is neatly finished with sleek bindings around the body, neck and headstock. Its characteristic oval sound hole is decorated with exquisite wood inlay work.
The ART pickup system of the APX700II
Most traditional electro-acoustic guitars use a piëzo strip that's built into the bridge for amplification. But the APX700II is actually equipped with Yamaha's exclusive Acoustic Resonance Transducer pickup system (ART) which consists of two round piëzo electric contact pickups. These can be found on the body's interior mounted to the top under the bridge, for optimal sound recording. Because of their special multi-layer design, they react better to the dynamics of your playing, making distortion a thing of the past.
Built-in preamplifier with tuner
The Yamaha APX700II is equipped with a built-in preamplifier with comprehensive tone adjustment. This System64 preamp has both a volume control and a 3-band equalizer. With the AMF switch you can tune your mid frequencies in detail. This Adjustable Midrange Frequency function is also excellent for avoiding feedback. Finally, the integrated digital tuner makes tuning your guitar much easier. The system is powered with two AA batteries that are easy to access via the side of the guitar.
